Grayson College Board Member Ralph Jones receives Denison’s Moving Forward Award

The city of Denison presented Grayson College Board Member Ralph Jones with its inaugural
Moving Forward Award Monday night.

“We could not be who we are without volunteers,” City of Denison Mayor Jared Johnson said.
“This award is given to someone who is extraordinary in what they are doing.”

Jones said he does not even have words to express what receiving the award means to him.
“Ralph Jones has been on our Grayson College Board of Trustees since 1969 and has continued
to serve in that capacity since then,” Johnson said. “The fact is that for 48 years you have served
so selflessly and with such high energy. You’ve taken your banking industry skillset and you’ve
poured it into thousands of students that are in high schools all over this community, that will
benefit from your work when they arrive to campus next year, that their kids and perhaps
grandchildren one day will benefit from the work that you and others have done.”

“I’m incredibly proud of the work of Ralph Jones,” Grayson College President Jeremy McMillen
said. “His legacy of leadership for the youth of Denison will serve as a benchmark for years to
come. His service to the college and dedication to student success is appreciated.”
